The Problem
I have a BT Broadband (I'm in the UK) and for years now the connection drops out when it starts raining and then comes back in after a minute (even while rain continues) after the router has reset itself. I did try and get BT to look into it and had literally years of getting BT engineers out who scratched their heads and sometimes detected a problem and sometimes didn't and sometimes replaced a bit of cable here or there. They all would say "well i can't tell if i've solved the problem since it's not rainng". My connection is fibre from BT to a cabinet in the street and then copper telephone connection to the house.
I
n the end I've given up reporting the problem since it always wastes a couple of days of my time talking to the nice indian support team (after spending an hour trying to get through) who would test the line, make me run round the house pulling things out and then eventually order another usless engineer visit, I can live with the problem except on days when the rain keeps blowing through and the connection goes up and down like a.. a.. yoyo.
The Nub
So.. I wonder has anyone had the same or similar problem and has anyone ever got it fixed?
I, and presumably other people, would be very appreciative if we can get some info on this problem... and especially a cure!
So why not post a comment to tell us of your problems and whether/how you got it fixed. It would be nice to know if its a UK thing or a worldwide thing and variations on the theme. To keep it balanced, try and answer these questions, and to start the ball rolling, here are my answers:
